Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Hanoi - night train to Lao Cai
In the evening you will take an overnight sleeper train from Hanoi Station to Lao Cai.

Meals: None

Day 2: Lao Cai to Bac Ha
The train arrives at Lao Cai Station early in the morning where you will be picked up to a local hotel for freshen up and breakfast. You will then be transferred 70km uphill to Bac Ha town let to check in and relax for the rest of the morning. Afternoon begins with a warming up ride for 12km up and downhill around the Ban Pho Valley. Visit local homes of the Hmong, Tay and Nung tribal peoples for a glimpse of their local life. Overnight in Bac Ha.

Day 3: Bac Ha to Sin Man
Today you will cycle to Sin Man, begins with 3km along the main road to Lau Thi Ngai, then following the village path, a combination of dirt path and rocky path, which winds up and downhill  for about 2.5 hours passing through a series of valleys and villages of the Flowery Hmong to the center of Ta Cu Ty commune. Lunch break in a home of the Tay ethnic people here. Continue biking in the afternoon along a dirt path mostly downhill along the sunning valley of Ban Gia 2 hours to Ban Ngo commune passing villages of the Nung, Red Zao and White Hmong. Take a long break at Ban Ngo to explore a charming village of the Nung before enjoying cycling on good tarmac 8km to Xin Man town let. Check in hotel, relax and free to explore this town let.

Overnight in Sin Man

Day 4: Sin Man to Quang Nguyen
Start cycling from Xin Man along the good tarmac gradually uphill the Nam Chien mountain 18km to the top of the Gio Pass, then downhill 8km to Khau Lau village of the Tay. This portion offers marvelous view of the Nam Dan before getting through the thick jungle. Leave the tarmac to follow a single dirt track which sneaks through bamboo forest for nearly an hour, then through the beautiful Khau Room valley to the Nam Li river. Lunch break on the river bank. Cross the river by suspension bridge after lunch and biking along a newly built village path for over 2 hours to Quang Nguyen commune. Arriving to Nam Choong village of the Red Zao at about 04.00pm. Check in the local eco-site on the bank of Nam Li River and free to relax or enjoy leisure walk along the river bank.

Overnight in Quang Nguyen

Day 5: Quang Nguyen to Hoang Su Phi
Biking through the splendid valley of Quang Nguyen which is surrounded by high mountains for half an hour. Then challenging 27km uphill to conquer the third highest mountain range in Vietnam. The path uphill is large but very tough at some parts, winding its way through tea plantation, forest before arriving to Ho Thau commune on the east side of the Kieu Lien Ty. Lunch break in Ho Xan village of the Red Zao.  Follow single dirt track after lunch for an hour to Nam Son commune and from here cycle along the upstream part of the Chay river gradually uphill 35km to Hoang Su Phi town let. Arriving to hotel at about 17.00 with time to relax.

Day 6: Hoang Su Phi to Pan Hou
Cycle along the tarmac 5km to Tan Tien Bridge. Then follow a large rocky path 5km before getting along a narrow single dirt track on the high elevation of the Tay Con Linh mountain range(the 2nd highest range in VN) for 2hours to Hop Nhat village of Tung San commune. Lunch break in a local home of the Zao ao dai peoples. Continue after lunch along the same trach for an hour uphill to the top of the pass at 1,472m high. Then follow the larger path up and downhill for the whole afternoon along the Hoang Su Phi valey. We will arrive Panhou eco-lodge in Thong Nguyen commune in the late afternoon. Check in the lodge and relax.

Overnight in Pan Hou Village


Day 7: Panhou to Luc Yen
Today cycle for 3 hours in the morning along single dirt track and rocky village path of an untough region to Quang Binh town let. Lunch break in a local restaurant. Afternoon cycle is easier along a narrow tarmac 40m which gets through the lower land of Ha Giang and Yen Bai Provinces which is prosperous and featured by a sery of beautiful valleys inhabited by the Tay ethnic peoples. Picked up in mid afternoon for a 25km road transfer to Luc Yen town let of Yen Bai province. Check in a local guesthouse and free to explore this charming town let, once famous for ruby mining and trading.

Summary: Biking: 45km: 12km tarmac, 33km single dirt track and rocky path.

Overnight in Luc Yen

Day 8: Luc Yen to Vu Linh
Biking along a narrow country tarmac 75km  which winds up and down hills, getting through dozens of stunning and lush valleys to Thac Ba lake. Arriving to Vu Ling village of the Zao people. Check in the Vu Linh resort and relax until lunch time. The whole afternoon is for cycling around the lake, exploring beautiful villages of different tribal ethnics such as Tay, Zao and Cao Lan.

Summary: Biking: 75km in the morning from Luc Yen to Vu Linh. 25km in the afternoon around the lake.

Overnight in Vu Linh


Day 9: Vu Linh to Hanoi
After breakfast, enjoy a 3 hours boat cruise around the Thac Ba lake to see local life. After lunch, transfer by road back to Hanoi, arriving at around 18.00.
